FATE

In the Spring of 2011 I became a member and attended the Foundations in Art: Theory and Education (FATE) Conference in St. Louis along with Brett Reif, Jim Sajovic, and Tom Lewis. This was a very enlightening opportunity to learn about the traditions of Foundation schools, teaching techniques, and make connections with fellow faculty members at sister schools, however the most beneficial time came on the ride to and from the conference, when we were able to digest the information just received, and also come up with new ways to promote our own department such as plans for documenting the department’s large slide archive and a KCAI Foundations 5oth anniversary book and committee.

Charlotte Street Foundation:

Urban Culture Project Resident 2011-2012

The Charlotte Street Foundation houses resident studios in three downtown locations, allowing me the

privilege to make closer ties to the local Art community, show my work during Open Studios, and especially

separate my studio work from my personal and work life. During this time my personal studio was given

honorable mention during Open Studios, our City Center Square space was voted by the public as the best

facility, I was a part of the Last Frontier Gallery in the Town Pavilion, and allotted time with CSF to help a

number of applicants use a new digital application process for upcoming residencies and awards.
