Teaching

Throughout my teaching career I have focused on a multi-faceted and trial-and-error based learning experience for students to become critical thinkers and observers of their environments.

Rather than insisting students master every aspect of the technical knowledge, this gives students the opportunity to “learn how to learn”.

Scholarship and Creative Work

My work requires a broad scope of technical skills, and I am happily in a constant state of acquiring new tools, techniques, and trades in order to continue teaching and creating.

In addition to my work shown in exhibition and gallery, much of my effort focuses on learning a new skill or experimenting within an emerging technology.

Recently this has taken me into drone photography and videography, microcontrollers and Internet of Things, theatrical lighting, and real-time video production.

Community Contributions

With a focus on human interaction and the principles of user experience, behavior, human-centeredness, and designing for Social Good, I find it important to stay connected to the local community of the school and instill this same communally driven attitude in my students.
