I’ve been waiting for a good moment to mention the current I’m Rich app debacle (a $999.99 app that has a simple jewel on screen that rotates… that’s it…). Now a total of eight people purchased the application before being taken down by Apple, as reported by iPhonefreak.
I think it’s fantastic. The author of the program, Armin Heinrich, whether intentionally or not, has done a great job at punching a hole in the App Store, software, and some would say all of commercialism’s ideology - how much is too much for something? Would it have been okay if the app was 0.99? Free? $99? What measures outside of Apple’s written guidelines are they going to take to censor the available applications? The list goes on.
