Next Friday (2/23) I’ll be speaking at New York City’s Ignite III sponsored by O’Reilly. It’s free admission and tons of great talks. Get your tickets at Eventbrite in advance!
Congrats to my friend Daniel for winning Best Short Film at Sundance 2009!
Short Term 12 Trailer:
Because this was a special holiday season (my brother got married last year, Corrie got married on New Years Eve, plus X-mas and New Years) I decided to give a gift to Corrie, Alden, Drew, and Jo complete with carnage and robotic destruction: the first (and only) Techrobotothon. Take a few remote control cars, [...]
I caught this guy in the act of stealing a movie poster of The Spirit at the Franklin stop near my apartment. Obviously he noticed me recording him, but what was he to do?
I particularly like the piece of art he left behind after his thieving.
The Hall of Witnesses interactive display at Southern Nazarene University that I’ve been working on for the last couple of months was dedicated over the weekend during Homecoming. I’ve heard it went well and there were over 200 people in attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony. I’m excited to get back to OKC [...]
The last few weeks were pretty intense. Case in point:
Welcome, congrats and happy birthdays are in order for the Alexanders
and the newest addition to their family, Addie.
After posting my open letter to R Nicholas Kuszyk I received a second e-mail from Nicholas. I’m glad he was able to see the irony of the situation and my attempts to “egg him on”. It was too ripe an opportunity not to try and exploit. Too bad Gothamist and Gawker couldn’t [...]
It sounds as though R Nicholas would like an apology - I’d be happy to comply: I’m sorry I took pictures of a man in a public area directing the production of a 4 story mural by a well known graffiti artist, while hiding his own identity. I’ll make it a priority to [...]
So my last time sighting a newly erected Bansky piece turned out to be a misfire, but this time I’ve got a 90% assurance I caught him in the act. I was walking back to ITP on Houston and MacDougal and spotted these 3 men using scaffolding to put up a large painting of [...]
Over the last few weeks I’ve been meeting and discussing to determine what my role will be at my internship. I didn’t want to presume anything until I had final word, so I’ve waited until now to let the cat out of the bag. Today we finally nailed down my specifics: I’ll be working [...]
I never know what to do while waiting for the doctor… and primary to specialty referrals for continued visits are ridiculous.
I had 120+ lbs. of luggage with me on the trip back to NYC, and on the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) I tossed everything into the seats across the aisle from me. Heh.
This came up on my iPhone while using the Shazam app. What do we think: a mistake or an Easter egg?
For all of my urban-dwelling friends that have never truly experienced a thunderstorm, I took a quick picture (yes, while driving) of a thunderstorm that was sweeping into Oklahoma City. This is exactly what it means to have a “wall” or “sheet” of rain blow in.
(this was taken in our backyard)
Back in NYC? Check.
Moved in to new apartment? Check.
Started new semester? Check.
I flew in to OKC yesterday afternoon from San Diego, and not only did I receive a jump in temperature (74-94) there’s also a train that has caught fire near where my parents live. It’s on the northeast side of the city and we’re on the northwest, so there shouldn’t be any chance of [...]
Today I officially launched FlashPrototyping.com
For my 3rd project in 5-in-5 I held a workshop at PLNU and released this launch e-mail.
Pass it on!
3 years ago I had a Treo, it was great - the ability to check e-mail on the go was priceless for work. Then I dropped it on a bathroom scale. So I punished myself and purchased a crappy phone I’ve had for the last year and a half. Last month I [...]
Last weekend a group of us took a trek up to Yosemite National Park to go hiking and spend some time at the lake. Even though it was a long trip up and back because of the holiday traffic, we had a great time kayaking on the lake, watching fireworks from the car on [...]
The Conners (the family I’m staying with this summer) just adopted a little kitten yesterday to keep their other cat company.
How cute… and tasty.
Chris, EJ, and I’s first P-Comp project, Trash Talk, is going to be shown at Conflux this September (the 5th Anniversary). We found out today that our application was accepted and we’re hyping up to get things in order. We’re using the old project as a jumping off point and are trying to [...]
We’re off and running in class. Our first class was on Monday evening where we talked about some of the basics that we’ll be dealing with in class (Medium/Message, focuses, process, power of design). The students worked on an in-class project and then we discussed a brief paper by Hillman Curtis. The [...]
I’m nearly settled in to knowing my plans for the summer (or at least the next month and a half). The class I will be teaching at PLNU’s Department of Art and Design (description below) was passed by the dean a few days ago, starts a week from today, and registration is open. [...]
I just got in to San Diego, CA a few hours ago and got ahold of my dear, dear friends to take care of me once I got off of the plane. Originally the plan was to be in San Diego this summer to work on an R&D project for an RFID tech company [...]
Over the last week I’ve gone on a picture taking frenzy. With the Spring Show, getting a new lens, and actually having time to spare; I’ve taken over 1,300 pictures (yes, literally). I may have burned myself out, but spending time around the city, people watching, and taking advantage of where I am [...]
I’m moving out of my apartment next week for a summer job, but before I leave for sunny California I have to sell some stuff.
Contact me if you have any questions and/or want to take them off my hands.
Now that summer is upon me and I have some time to wander around a bit, I’ve been able to get back in to taking more pictures. Yesterday I wandered around for an hour or so in my own neighborhood. I’d never had the chance/time to really walk even a few blocks away [...]
Apparently when my alarm went off this morning at 8:15AM; I woke up, turned off my alarm, and fell back asleep.
I woke up again at 8:45AM with just enough time to get ready and catch the train for my 9:30AM class. I wasn’t exactly sure why I felt happy when this happened, but after [...]
Hillman Curtis has just released a new short film in his Artist Series following the exhibit of Stefan Sagmeister at Deitch in SoHo.
Back in San Diego for Spring Break.
What more can I say?
Obama added me as a friend on Flickr. I think we may go bowling this weekend and get some pizza.
On the train to school (and work) this morning I watched a pretty telling event of the new generation’s understanding of cameras and technology:
A group of 3 women sitting side by side, the woman in the middle holding a child (perhaps 2 years old) with accompanying stroller. One of the other women decided to [...]
Tom Gerhardt just walked behind me while talking on his cell phone:
“Yeah, hi, I was wondering if you sell Muriatic or Hydrochloric acid… you do? And you’re on 1st Street?… great, thanks!”
I have no idea what he’s working on.
A quick update on the siblings as both have had momentous happenings this last week:
Corrie and Alden became engaged last Friday (a little over a week ago). They started dating six years ago when Corrie was 16 and are currently thinking about the end of 2008 as a date for the wedding. [...]
My friend John “Lost and Found” Raux has uploaded hundreds of pictures from his trip up the Pacific Crest Trail. He spent 6 months hiking from the Mexico to Canada borders through the USA with nothing but the shirt and supplies on his back. I talked to John a bit about his experiences [...]
My cousin, Michaela, is a student at Union University in Tennessee which was hit by a tornado earlier this week. During the tornado she was in the dining hall and is fine, but her dorm is in shambles with the rest of 1/3 of the campus. Apparently they’re attempting to continue classes next [...]
Band of Horses has a new single out for download on Sub Pop’s website called No One’s Gonna Love You (Like I Do)
To be fair, not only was the NFL Super Bowl watched, but we caught some of the Puppy Bowl IV from Animal Planet with picture in picture action.
Sadly, our pick - Rascal, came in 18th for MVP.
(you have to admit, until the last few minutes the game wasn’t exactly exciting)
After having this Nazarene Bash.org moment I remembered I should be keeping up on my Bash.org.
them: damn
them: i’ve been curing lots more lately. think it’s a sign of something serious?
me: holiness, i guess
them: uh cursing
me: then, the opposite

Here’s a collection of pictures from Winter Break. I went to Oklahoma City for 2 weeks to celebrate Christmas and New Years, up to Kansas City to visit friends for a week, then came back to New York to soak in the city and prepare for the new semester.
Highlights include building a [...]
Got back in to the city last night around 10pm; thankfully without a hitch. On the plane I was sitting next to a girl named Kari that was working on her lyrics for some song - little did I know I was sitting next to a real life princess. Or something.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that 2007 was the most event filled year of my life to date. Last week we had a family gathering at Uncle Randy and Aunt Cindy’s new house and we spent time catching up by showing pictures from the last year; basically giving a rundown of what [...]
Roundtrip flights:
San Diego to New York (Long Island) for $198

Ya, I fell for it.

On my way to school Sunday morning I was taking the JMZ across the Williamsburg Bridge and out of the corner of my eye I caught a quick glimpse of a graffiti mural. Immediately I thought it was a brand new Banksy, as I hadn’t noticed it before and it gleamed of his style. [...]
That’s what I get for asking Elim to write a reminder on my hand.
He worked diligently on his ICM and PhysComp until late at night. Documenting and coding, processing and rendering, until the ER staff turned off the lights at a dark midnight hour. His friends Bameya and Falberto insisted “…let us go to get Japanese food!” on their departure. Not being one to turn [...]
I’m working on creating a to-do list for the end of the semester. I’ve realized that midterms burned me pretty bad, and it’s taken a bit to get back into the swing of things, but I’m still in a good place to get back in the saddle. Not working in the PComp lab [...]
Here’s a couple pictures from my subway corner I took today.
Man on the left stands in front of Popeyes to open the door and ask for change on the way out.
Woman on the right stands in front of Dunkin Donuts to open the door and ask for change on the way out.
Man smoking crack or [...]
A few of us went to the Rockstar Games party in Williamsburg on Halloween. Apparently the warehouse where it was held is new to Rockstar and they use it for poster making and all kinds of other stuff. It’s a huge place, 2 story, they had an open bar, a huge projector with [...]
On my walk from Union Square to school (approx. 6 blocks) I saw 2 dozen people that I’m unsure if they dressed up for Halloween or not.
Vikram, Estee, and I went on an afternoon photowalk in Chelsea on Sunday. Nice to get out and see more of the city, and the weather was perfect. No complaints here.
After midterms were over I called ConEdison and they came today to end my twelve days without electricity. There wasn’t really anything that happened that caused me to realize I need electricity in my apartment, but when I realized I’m paying $1,200 a month for a place I didn’t feel like paying $60 a [...]
The weather has really been pissing me off the last month - changing from hot to cold and back again on a daily basis. But now I think it’s settled on being cold. That miserable heat + humidity is gone until next year. So you know what that means!
It’s called Extreme Ironing. Certainly my kind of athletics.

An estimated 500,000 of my fellow San Diegans have been forced to flee their homes due to fires in the past few days (nobody I know personally as of now update: Whitney, Tannan, Gaye, and Scott Scholler have been evacuated from their 2 homes in Poway). I was living in Mission Valley when the [...]
I’m in it for the stories. For the ways I can look back and laugh, or shake my head, or cry and say “yup, I’ve done that.” A couple of years ago I started my list of “I Have” that I’ve updated a couple times - some of the things I’ve done in [...]
Not that everything is dealt with, but over these last few days of problem after problem (computers, money, etc.), I got to a point I was actually appreciating being “down and out” for a time. When you know you’ll come out of it it makes it easier and realize you have to roll with [...]
I wanted to post some pictures for all y’all at home (be that San Diego, Oklahoma City, or ???). Sadly, because of my current situation I didn’t edit them - so the colors are very off and some of them probably shouldn’t be online in the first place, but here you go.

Check out all the videos from the Arcade Fire concert on Saturday. Be sure to check out the one of Will climbing the scaffolding.
Here’s a special ditty - the impromptu encore cover of “Kiss Off” by the Violent Femmes they played for the small group of us that stuck around for a few minutes on [...]
I don’t remember who it was… perhaps it was Rob? Tom Jenkins? I’m not sure who you were… but whoever you are - you got me good. I honestly believed there was a cafeteria on the floor above us with free coffee. And I went, and I checked, and I asked, [...]
I went to bed around 2am after getting back from the concert (walking across the bridge into Harlem took about 1.5 hrs plus the bus ride into EV) and grabbing a bite to eat at Popeyes. That’s when it started. David and his Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (copyright 2007). [...]
Yesterday I got a text from Jeremy around 3pm with an extra ticket to the Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem concert on Randall’s Island. For some reason I thought it was supposed to be a fairly small concert, but it ended up being huge (~25,000 people). It was Will’s birthday (one of the [...]
TNO = Thursday Night Out
PreNO = ….before Night Out
To fet get an idea of how an average Thursday night goes at ITP, check out Mike Dory’s PreNO and TNO photo sets on Flickr.
This time we started off at Tom’s roof top in the East Village and ended up about a block away at [...]
I’m not sure how I’ve missed this until now, but TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) has all of their talks archived online and ready to be watched for hours of inspiration.
After the ITP family gorged ourselves on free dumplings (lunch? Philly Cheese Steak from our local street vendor), we heard from our Friday night speaker: an ITP alumnus from GRL and Eyebeam that created LED throwies (the inspiration for the Cartoon Network guerilla advertisement gone bad), adjunct prof at Parsons, etc. He came and talked about graf, writers, technology, the establishment, RGA, etc. Quite the change from the alumn a couple weeks ago that was
I must be having some subconscious homesickness right now - my entire dream(s) from last night centered around a mystical land combining San Diego and Oklahoma City (with a few new characters from NYC).
I was driving someone (Danielle, I think it was you?) to the airport in San Diego which was on a [...]
Reason #346 why I love ITP:
I mentioned something about the word “fart” and Jong Min didn’t know that I meant. Being a sarcastic fellow, I wasn’t sure if he was pulling my leg, so I got to Google and teach Jong Min the word fart using a video.
Mom is out of the hospital as of yesterday and at home doing much better. She’s still a bit wobbly and needs a little help keeping her balance, so friends and family are sure to be around. As far as we know right now this spurt was caused by medicine side effects and [...]
While watching a couple of the videos about the exiling of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Pakistan and the 4,000+ that have been detained, rioting, etc… I noticed something odd… english. I freeze framed the video and came up with this screen capture.

I’m not one to to disclose all the interworkings of my personal life online, but if you could keep my Mom in your thoughts the next few days we would appreciate it. My Dad noticed she was acting overly kooky, tired and unbalanced yesterday and took her to the hospital to get some tests [...]
On Sunday during the day Kacie (ITP), Thomas (ITP), their friend Dan (Parsons) and I went out to enjoy the gritty, raw experience that is Coney Island (which may not be torn down, by the way). Lunch was a corn dog and a funnel cake, followed by a “swinging” ride on the Wonder Wheel, [...]
First year ITP students don’t register until after orientation is over and you’ve had a chance to meet with your advisor. This week was orientation, last night was the Welcome and Welcome Back Party on the floor (ITP takes up the entire 4th floor of Tisch on 721 Broadway and is just called “The [...]
Ya, you’re right Mom, that Jesus poster WAS the coolest present I got - til you threw it in the Ninja Cool Pool.
No idea where it came from, but I can almost undoubtedly had a fantastic nap-dream.
I just paid $8.85 for a veggie burrito and medium sized horchata.
I’m sure it was started by the rat in the trash last night, but I just was NOT feeling my neighborhood and the people in it today. Normally it’s interesting and keeps me out of The Village bubble, but having rocks thrown at my window by kids at the subway before giving me the [...]
Knowing how I like a good story, and knowing I like it even more when I get to say “I did this” or “this happened to me” - this gets to take the cake for most disgusting city experience to date…
My Flickr Pro account expired for the last month or so, but I’ve got it back online. Now you can see all the great sets and pics I’ve taken for like 3 years or something stupid.
I just got back from my last day of work at the Off-Campus Housing Office! Whoo-hoo! Not that it was bad, it was actually a perfect transition time to learn the city, have free rent, and get into the swing of life around NYU. We didn’t get every single thing that was [...]
I finished partially exposing the brick wall on the north side of the apartment (no, I’m not taking off the rest - it’s partially exposed on purpose). The first is a picture of the facing wall, which is how it started (without the red area that was painted before my arrival) and the second [...]
This was definitely a one-of-a-kind New York experience. I’m walking down Bleeker street during my lunch break and suddenly a man in front of me yells “Rolling… Action!”…
Without going into extremely detailed specifics, here are a few tid-bits of information about my new loft apartment in Brooklyn:
For those that didn’t see the weather report for the city and how Bay Ridge, Brooklyn was torn apart by a tornado, last week had some fairly brutal weather in parts…
It wasn’t Montauk, but it was pretty close. Through many transportation snafoos on Thursday, Michelle finally got into Manchester, NH for a wedding on Saturday morning. I have been waiting to hear back about an application for an apartment in Brooklyn, so I had time to take the Chinatown Fung Wah Bus for $15 from New York to Boston (4.5 hours) and then…
Not to provoke the media sensationalism that’s already plaguing my part of the campus already, but for those of you that may have heard about the murder that took place at NYU, I wanted to write a brief note. There’s more information here and I’m sure that will be out-dated quickly, but the long [...]
Michelle was able to change her flight to stop through NYC on her way back from the East. Here’s a quick run-down of our adventures…
Today the van was sold. Well, actually 2 days ago it was sold on eBay, but today the van was picked up in San Diego (thanks to Tiana!) and no longer belongs to me. I sold it for $5k which is of course less than what I’ve put into it, but I’m satisfied. It’s exactly what I was hoping to get. This means the project has come to a close, I promise. I’m still working on my conclusions and after thoughts to place online, but the StreamDavid.com project has ended. It may be a little while before I’m able to put everything up, so I wanted to show this just to wet your appetite.
This is the slideshow I’m currently working on as the final to my StreamDavid.com project.
My parents sent me some flippin’ HUGE cupcakes here at the office for my birthday from Crumbs Bake Shop, check it out!

As you can tell, I’m doing some house cleaning of this site right now. I’m keeping it real straight forward. I may change up the colors, or add something or another, but I really just don’t have time and want to strip it down. Enjoy, and in the meantime, here’s a monkey [...]

I’m still trying to figure out Daxflame - the squirrely child YouTube phenom. Is this another LonelyGirl15 ploy? Is this just a weird unsociable kid ranting about his life? Is this some kind of art project? In any case, it’s fascinating.
This is one of the saddest videos I’ve come upon in a while. I was hoping to find out if anyone has linked the visuals from the Smashing Pumpkin’s video Tonight, Tonight to Greg’s video and this came up about Greg and Mandy. There really is no privacy in celebrity.

Is it bad I thought Sir Edmund Hillary died quite a while ago?… what an amazing man.
I saw this today in New Orleans at a restaurant. And boy am I glad I did.
I’ve been trying to find this movie title forever. Apparently it’s a bit of a cult classic. I just remember when the Red Bull Attacks. Scared me when I was five!
The Kostroma Moose Farm boasts:
Visitors can touch animals, feed them with bread (sweets, tarts, cakes,…) For you - is it dangerous? Perhaps. Do not break rules. Do not run, do not cry, do not try to pick up dropped sweets… and be patient with a soft warm tender moose.

Firstly, congrats to Drew. I talked to him earlier this evening and although a bit nervous, everything was going off without a hitch. Here they are - a collection of pics (48) from my trip to Portland and those that enjoyed it with me. I was there for a week spending time in the Alphabet District, the Pearl, SE side, downtown, etc. with Jaimie Augustine for the first few days, then the wedding for Jenn Tracy [...]
I’ll be uploading more from my week in Portland (I’m still getting my trailer all settled and storing my belongings) but until that time, check out the pics I shot at the free Everclear concert I went to with Jeremy Morgan at Music Millennium in the Alphabet District on Tuesday night. There were [...]

Sorry for the delay in immersing you in viral marketing, funny antics, and the up-to-date information on my life, but times are stressful and hectic right now. I’ll post more in a week, but basically I’ve moved out of my apartment, into the trailer, sold everything I own, got a whole bunch of new [...]
Same week, same venue, different bands. Last night I pawned off the 7 extra tickets I bought (who knew they would up the capacity and not sell-out?) and met up with Hanna, Morgan, and Kaitlin for the Death Cab for Cutie Show (with Spoon and Mates of State opening). I only caught [...]
As a last minute decision this afternoon, I went with Kristin and Heidi to the Ben Harper + Damien Marley Concert. Performed at the Embarcadero downtown, we got down to the equivalent of the 5th or 6th row, dead center. Great spot for a great concert.

What’s losing a bachelor without having a bachelor party? The exact going-ons of this party shall remain without definition, but you can rest assured there was much humiliation, gawking, immodesty, and indecency.
I took a trip up to San Jose for a wedding this last week and used my iSight, EvoCam, and Sprint’s mobile broadband on my Powerbook G4 to take images every 5 minutes. This doesn’t include every single 5 minutes (it’s on motion detection), but it’s quite a bit of the 9 hour drive.
I left my camera in the Niemeyers’ car yesterday, but here’s the first photos in a large set of pictures from Jeff and Mer’s wedding over the weekend.
Last Tuesday we had a homage to Chelsea in OB. Dressing up as pirates, pin the boobs on the hawaiian, and a soccer ball piñata were enjoyed.

Okay here is my first batch post of pictures from the new camera. I took a total of 852 pictures this weekend from Gwen and Davy’s wedding, a little guys’ night poker, and Leigh’s birthday shindig - and widdled it down. I’m still working on all the settings and attempting to shoot [...]

Researchers Say They Can Cure Cancer In Mice
Three years ago, Wake Forest researchers discovered a mouse that could not get cancer no matter how hard they tried to give it the disease.
Now, they said white blood cells from that mouse’s descendants were injected into ordinary mice with cancer and their disease was completely wiped out.
